Monthly Newsletter | September 2022

My hope with See Things Closer Photography is that it brings your family together through intentional connection and that my camera helps you see the things that mean the most to you closer and in a beautiful new light.

Hi friends! Happy September!

I don’t know about you but I feel like taking a giant exhale now that summer is coming to a close. I love the warm summer sun so much that I usually dread this time of year, but right now I’m definitely ready for the slower pace that Fall offers. I think the return to a routine is what makes it feel slower. Whether you happen to love Fall or have your fingers crossed for a second summer, I hope you find pockets of joy in the transition – perhaps with a cozy nap and a delicious bowl of soup.

And speaking of Fall photos, I sent another email last week with my Fall calendar availability. In case you haven't booked your time yet, I've linked to my full session calendar and both mini session options below. I’m so thankful for the response and cannot wait to see you all over the next few months.

*The times listed for full sessions are set for outdoor sessions when sunlight is most ideal. If you’d like to book an indoor lifestyle session in your home or a studio session, we can be more flexible with timing for the day you select.

Every month, I love sharing with you what’s been catching my eye, and today, I’m excited to share a few favorite discoveries from the summer.

Firstly, in case you haven’t yet come across this beautiful spot in St. Louis (I hadn’t either until recently!), I feel it is very important to share Mastodon State Park with you before the weather gets too chilly. Thanks to one of my families, The Vouga’s, for sharing this gem with my husband Aaron and me. It was one of our favorite spots this summer to change up our typical Tower Grove or Forest Park walks. Bring those water shoes and a lawn chair, and you’ll spend hours exploring the great outdoors with your crew.

Secondly, if you need a delicious and filling meal to add to your rotation this fall, we are loving this One Skillet Greek Meatballs and Lemon Butter Orzo recipe by Half Baked Harvest. It’s the perfect recipe for us and I can’t seem to stop making it.

Let’s take a closer look at...my favorite book of the summer. Hands down, it was Rock Paper Scissors!!! We listened to the audiobook on a road trip to Kansas City this summer, and wow, it did not disappoint. It was an amazing suspense novel that was neither too gory nor terrifying ha. We finished it at home and just stared at each other after it ended. Truly left us speechless and makes you want to reread the entire book again once you know how it ends. Can’t recommend it enough for your road trips this fall and winter!

Lastly, with fall approaching, I wanted to share a recent favorite follow: _laura_prietto has been a huge inspiration for seasonal crafts that are minimal in style and utilize materials you most likely already have around your house. Be sure to tag me if you end up making any of her crafts with your crew – and happy creating!
